I’ve spent 19+ years in education and have seen exactly why qualified educators get overlooked

I’ve worked across public, private, and charter schools, and I’ve consistently seen talented educators struggle to position themselves in a way that gets results.

It’s not a lack of skill—it’s a lack of strategy.

Sheena Washington

Background in Education

The Education Shift was founded by Sheena Washington, a certified educator with 19 years of experience across private, public, and charter schools — and someone who knows firsthand what it takes to navigate the education job market successfully.

As a certified teacher, she's sat in the classrooms, navigated the politics, and felt the frustration of being qualified and overlooked. She's also been on the other side, understanding what decision-makers want to see and what makes one candidate stand out over another.

Why She Created These Services

Sheena created the career services side of The Education Shift because she saw the same pattern repeating: talented, qualified educators who were stuck, overlooked, or applying without a strategy, and no structured support available to help them move forward.

The education job search is not like other industries. The hiring cycles are different. The decision-makers are different. The way you have to position yourself is different. And yet educators are expected to figure all of this out on their own, usually while still working full-time in demanding roles.

She created Educator Career Shift to close that gap, to give educators the structured support, the insider knowledge, and the personalized strategy that should have always been available to them.
